Society has made great strides in attractiveness since the 1980s. We learned to lay off the matching neon blush and lipstick, backed away from the teasing combs and burned all our velvet scrunchies in a communal bonfire (this didn’t actually happen, obviously, but what a wonderful bonding experience it would’ve been).
Nowadays, you can google “Rose Gold Hair” or “Mohawk Braids” and stumble upon an oasis of fresh, cool inspiration. But a simple “Prom Hair” search mentally triggers the Psycho theme music. Why is it so challenging for fresh, cool high school prom enthusiasts to find style guides that don’t begin and end with “empty a canister of hairspray”?
