Put A Bow On ItApril 29, 2016 7:17 pm
Trends are a lot like the circle of life.
They are born fresh, then toddle through a few awkward years as the general public catches on. Eventually Alexa Chung sees it on Tumblr and makes it look way cooler than us mortals can hope to, but we all try anyway and the trend gains rapid popularity. Then Paris Hilton wears it to one of her guest DJ spots, and stores everywhere slap a “clearance” sign on their stock. RIP.
But sometimes, trends are reincarnated.
The bow is an unlikely example of this.
What was once a fashion statement that strictly said either “I am about to get my first school photo taken” or “I will be holding a megaphone on the sidelines of the game tonight” now also says “I know what’s up in fashion.”
The key is to use casual ribbon and integrate it seamlessly into your hairstyle. A perky, oversized and perfectly tied bow will come across as dated. Textural elements are always chic (think suede or ribbed) or repurpose the ribbon that came wrapped around your most recent luxury purchase (because you’re very into recycling).Сomments аrchive
