The silver-white hair of Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones is iconic at this point. Though admittedly a wig, the hair is something to envy on the hit HBO show. And, just like Sansa Stark and Cersei Lannister, Daenyerys’ hair tells the story of her life. Let’s recap the episodes with her best hair moments, from her time in exile to the queen she is today. (Heads up, there are spoilers everywhere in here.)

Season 1

Daenerys starts the show with her hair down and loose. She’s basically been living in exile, so she either doesn’t know how to style her hair, or doesn’t have anyone to help her.

Season 2

Daenerys has full-on embraced being the Khaleesi (aka queen) of the Dothraki. She’s incorporated some of the braided styles of her new family into her look.

Season 3

Pretty much dressing for the job she wants, Daenerys adds more flair to her braided style to create a clean, almost royal hairstyle.

Season 4

As she settles in to rule Mereen, the self-proclaimed queen starts working with a new look. While maintaining some braids from her past life, she also starts wearing more of her hair down.

Season 5

Clearly Daenerys is no longer concerned with fighting, or else the long locks she wears would get in the way. Also, these beautifully crafted curls make us wonder: Who’s out there with a curling iron?

Season 6

Fleeing from a rebellious city was enough to mess up Khaleesi’s hair, forcing her to return to her practical Dothraki styles. Braided and determined, she’s ready to fight again.

Season 7

Daenerys continues to use braids in her styles. Like Cersei’s haircut, this may be a military move more so than a fashion one. Tied back and out of her face, they’re less likely to get in the way while she rides dragons and generally conquers everything in this final season.

You go, Khaleesi!
